LEGO Sea Otter captures the hearts of 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas

The latest fan-made design to join the LEGO Ideas 10k club is a brick-built sea otter in its viral meme-ified pose.

Sea otters have gone viral time and again for their cute habit of floating on their backs, collecting rocks and even holding hands. Now, HisBrickMaterials has captured the adorable pose in bricks in their project, Floating Sea Otter. Built on a display base decorated to look like the ocean, with marine plants and vines, the head, belly, and feet of the brick-built otter poke out of the 'water.'

The face in particular has been well recreated, with a wide-eyed expression. There are also several movable parts including the front and back paws with toes, the head and the mouth, offering full control over the appearance and precise post of the otter.

The designer decided to create the project based on the otter to raise awareness of the dangers faced by the endangered species. Will it make it onto LEGO shelves? That's now in the hands of the LEGO Ideas team.
