LEGO shows up in the news on both sides of the Atlantic
As the controversy around the US Treasure Secretary plugging The LEGO Batman Movie rumbles on, a video is doing the rounds showcasing the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union using a LEGO block analogy.
The Guardian’s widely shared video compiles various analogies used by the key Brexit ministers, including David Davis telling a select committee, ‘When we finish building the Lego blocks, we’ll build the house.’
Democratic Senator Ron Wyden is calling for Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to be investigated for violating ethics rules, after he plugged The LEGO Batman Movie while in his current role – a movie that he provided finances for.
Financial Regulation News report:
“The American people deserve to know whether Secretary Mnuchin violated his promise to sever financial ties with Hollywood or if he’s instead using the government to increase his own bottom line,” Wyden, ranking member on the Senate Finance Committee, wrote in a letter to OGE Director Walter Shaub.
With all of the controversies that have surrounded the new White House administration, it is something of a surprise that LEGO has managed to find its way into one of the many stories.
