LEGO Star Wars 40407 Death Star II Battle free for US fans

LEGO Star Wars 40407 Death Star II Battle is once again available as a gift-with-purchase at LEGO.com – at least in the US.

The 235-piece microscale model was originally available with a £75 / $75 spend for this year’s May the Fourth shopping event. It’s now returned to the online store – but only for US buyers. You’ll need to spend $75 on LEGO Star Wars sets to qualify, which may be tricky, given not much is actually in stock at the moment.

In fact, these are the only LEGO Star Wars sets currently available through LEGO.com in the US:

40431 BB-8
40391 First Order Stormtrooper
75284 Knights of Ren Transport Ship
75239 Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack
75248 Resistance A-wing Starfighter
75246 Death Star Cannon

If you’re missing any of those from your collection, 40407 Death Star II Battle could be the perfect sweetener to justify paying full price. A combination of 75284 Knights of Ren Transport Ship and any other set from that list – or perhaps one of the holiday bag tags, which are still in stock – will take you over the required threshold.

The offer also stacks with 40416 Ice Skating Rink, which is currently free with a £150 / $150 spend. UK shoppers will unfortunately miss out on 40407 Death Star II Battle this time round, but the Holiday Gift Set is still available online.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
