New LEGO Ideas activity asks for upside-down builds

The next LEGO Ideas activity has been revealed with a challenge asking you to draw inspiration from Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down.

As noted in our review, LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down is arguably one of the most unique models ever officially released, with half of the set displayed as inverted, whether you choose that be the titular dimension or the normal world. The method of creating a build designed to be seen upside down is the theme for the latest LEGO Ideas event.

The challenge is not themed specifically to Stranger Things, unlike the last LEGO Ideas activity, which is still asking for illuminated Star Wars scenes, but you can look towards 75810 The Upside Down for tips and tricks on building bottom-up.

The standard rules apply for the activity, with any third-party licenses welcomed unless you’re hoping to see your models shared on official social channels. Taboo subjects must also be avoided, and you can find a full list of rules on the event’s dedicated page.

The potential inspiration for this activity, LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down, is due to retire by the end of this year. This has now been confirmed by the official online store. The set is still available to purchase and we’ve got an in-depth review of the mirrored model, as well as a feature detailing the building experience.

You’ve got until October 19 to get an entry for the LEGO Ideas activity together, though no prize is offered. To be in with a chance of winning rewards, the platform has two contests currently live. This includes another asking for Unity Microgames, which just had its prize package updated with additional NINJAGO sets.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
