On Friday the LEGO Group revealed that more LEGO Monkie Kid sets will be arriving on shelves from January 1, 2022. The seven new sets continue the theme’s retelling of legendary stories with a twist and new characters based on past tales. The upcoming range includes something for every budget from the affordable 80030 Monkie Kid’s Staff Creations to the huge 80036 The City of Lanterns set.
In total the seven new sets include 33 minifigures, many of which will be appearing for the first time. Let’s take a closer look at which characters are included with each Monkie Kid set:
This fun set allows you to build three different Monkie Kid vehicles: a mech, a race car and an airplane. The set also includes minifigures of Monkie Kid in a training outfit with staff and Monkey King with The Golden staff.
Mei’s vehicle is built for speed and includes an opening cockpit and spring-loaded shooter. The minifigures in this set are Mei with a Jade Dragon Blade, Monkie Kid with The Golden Staff and Cloud Board, plus the villainous Rumble and Savage.
Travel to Chang’e’s Moon base Cake Factory and help send deliveries back to Earth in a carrot-shaped rocket ship. The three minifigures in the set include Chang’e, Lunar Rabbit Robot with carrot gun and Pigsy in a space outfit with rake and blue Fire Ring.
Armed with a formidable staff, this huge mech might just be more than a match for Monkie Kid. The set includes five minifigures: Mei, Monkie Kid, Evil Macaque, Rumble and the first-ever minifigure of Sandy following his bigfig design.
Nezha’s monowheel vehicle gets its own set, complete with flame-energy spring-loaded shooters, while the Evil Macaque gets his own stud-shooting jet flyer. Six minifigures of Nezha, Monkie Kid, Monkey King, Evil Macaque, White Bone Demon and Savage are included.
The previously revealed 80035 Galactic Explorer is a huge spaceship and launchpad set boasting spring-loaded shooters, cockpit and moon rover. There are six minifigures with this set: Monkie Kid, Mei, Sandy and Mr. Tang in space outfits, plus Rumble and Savage.
The largest Monkie Kid set to date; 80036 The City of Lanterns looks like being an epic build complete with seven minifigures. These include Monkie Kid in a tourist outfit, Mr. Tang, Mei, Pigsy, Han, Huang and a train driver.
The seven new LEGO Monkie Kid sets are all due to start arriving in stores and online from January 1, 2022.
