The latest LEGO Star Wars game is out today

LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is out today as the latest title based on a galaxy far, far away and bringing a social experience into a LEGO game.

While we wait for the launch of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which currently has a scheduled release window of Spring 2022, a new game for the franchise is bringing a different corner of the galaxy to life with a tropical getaway set in the Star Wars franchise.

LEGO Star Wars: Castaways is developed by Gameloft and is doing something new for LEGO Games – focusing on a social experience that allows you to interact with other players in minigames and other activities.

A trailer released by the developer showcases the gameplay that you can expect to see in the title, including minifigure creation and the options that are available to you. You’ll then be able to walk around a hub world featuring non-playable characters to populate the intergalactic getaway as well as other players that can be identified with a name above their heads.

Options for activities include Microfighter racing, taking on quests from new Star Wars character Bosigg the Hutt and top-down isometric battles against Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers and more.

You can find LEGO Star Wars: Castaways on the App Store, with the release planned for today. A subscription to Apple Arcade is required, which will also allow you to experience other LEGO games such as LEGO Brawls – which recently received a Monkie Kid update – for £4.99 / $4.99 / €4.99 a month.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
