Why LEGO’s Super Mario 64 set doesn’t match the game
The designer behind LEGO 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block reveals why the set is a question mark and not an exclamation mark.
Many fans have been wondering why the LEGO Group decided to go with a question mark design on the massive set, as that iconic block never actually appeared in the game. Instead, the classic Super Mario 64 video game swapped out the question marks with multi-coloured exclamation blocks.
However, a new interview with the designer of the set has at last revealed the reason why the change was made. Speaking to Nintendo Life, Daire McCabe said: “The ‘?’ Block didn’t feature in Super Mario 64. Including the ‘?’ Block was an intentional choice, and one we call out in the package itself. With ‘?’ Blocks, you never know what you’ll find inside, so this ‘?’ Block includes fun secrets and surprises for fans to enjoy.”
LEGO 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block is available to purchase now from the official online store and is priced at £159.99 / $169.99 / €169.99.
