66 new LEGO Stores opened globally in the first half of 2022

The LEGO Group has revealed that it opened 66 new retail stores in the first six months of 2022, with 46 located in China alone.

Contributing to the LEGO Group’s impressive financial performance for the first half of 2022 has been the expansion of the company’s global retail network. The LEGO Group has revealed that in the first six months of the year, the number of new LEGO Stores grew by 66, with the majority of those locations being in China.

With total of 46 new LEGO Stores opening in the country in the first half of 2022, the LEGO Group’s presence continues to grow in China. That takes the total number of LEGO Stores to 833 worldwide, although that figure is due to expand again tomorrow with the imminent opening of the Munich flagship LEGO Store.

Earlier in the year the LEGO Group announced it had begun expanding its factory in Jiaxing, China, in order to meet demand and support long-term growth across Asia. The country is a key territory for the company, with double-digit growth in the region over the last few years and the opening of the 300th LEGO Store in Haining in December 2021.

As well as the Jiaxing expansion, the LEGO Group also announced last year that it plans to open its first carbon-neutral factory in in Vietnam in 2024, to be followed by a second factory in Virginia, United States, in 2025.
