LEGO Ideas launches LEGO Creator 3-in-1 contest
It’s time to get your building caps on – the latest LEGO Ideas contest is now accepting entries. All you need to do is build an add-on for one of this year’s LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets. And that’s it: you have completely free reign within that brief.
The contest submission phase runs from today (October 24) until December 4 and 6:00am EST, so you’ve got around a month and a half to put something together. The grand prize is the entire 2018 Creator 3-in-1 assortment, a handful of sets from the 2017 range, a t-shirt, a frame and a winner’s certificate.
Two runners up, meanwhile, will be awarded the entire summer wave of Creator 3-in-1 sets, alongside two from the first half of the year, plus the t-shirt and winner’s certificate. Finally, a bonus winner will walk away with the entire summer wave, including 31083 Cruising Adventures, 31085 Mobile Stunt Truck, 31084 Roller Coaster Adventure and 31077 Modular Sweet Surprises.
Once the submission window closes, the judges will review all the entries and choose the winning builds by December 11. The victors will then be announced by December 18. The judging criteria is split equally between the relevance to the contest theme, the most inspired details, the best use of LEGO elements, and the overall coolness and originality.
You don’t need to own any of the 2018 Creator 3-in-1 models to participate, and you’re welcome to submit more than one entry. For more details, check out the full terms and conditions on the LEGO Ideas contest page.

Author Profile
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
