LEGO wheelchair helps disabled dog run and play

A disabled dog is getting a new lease of life thanks to a LEGO wheelchair.

Gracie is a puppy who was dropped off at a veterinary centre with two wounds that required emergency treatment at just six weeks old. She was adopted by the Turley family that runs an animal rescue group near Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Dylan, a 12-year-old volunteer at the Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue, built a LEGO doggy wheelchair to help her get around, the Good News Network reports. Despite missing her front two legs she can move unaided, but the cushioned contraption keeps her chest and spine safe. Using the wheeled LEGO build, she can run as well as go up and down stairs.

The actual ‘chair’ aspect is built mainly using common bricks, but the frame uses predominantly Technic pieces. LEGO bricks can be a useful way to help disabled pets, a contraption was also built by a family last year to help a kitten who was struggling and a turtle who needed assistance.
