Disney’s third TRON film rumoured to star Jared Leto

A third Tron film from Disney is rumoured to be moving forward with Jared Leto starring in the project following the 2010 sequel. 

Starting with the original TRON in 1982 and following its sequel TRON: Legacy in 2017, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a third TRON movie titled TRON: Ares is planned at Disney. Jared Leto is rumoured to star in the feature following his recent portrayal as Morbius with Joachim Ronning directing.

While this report is not confirmed, the LEGO Group has a history with the TRON franchise as well as Disney. In 2018, one year after the sequel, 21314 TRON: Legacy was released as a LEGO Ideas set following the success of the project submitted by BrickBros UK. 

Details and confirmation of the rumoured TRON: Ares have yet to surface but with the history of a set and a partnership with Disney, it could be an opportunity for the LEGO designers to explore the franchise further while Disney capitalises on its marketing potential. It’s worth noting that a TRON roller coaster is also opening later this year at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme park too.
