Auction offers the chance to own a piece of LEGOLAND Billund
A LEGO Safari Car is going under the hammer, giving fans the chance to own a piece of LEGOLAND Billund history.
LEGOLAND Billund, the original theme park in the portfolio, is auctioning off a LEGO Safari Car to raise money for charity. The car dates back to 1971, when the attraction that it was part of opened – since then, more modern ride vehicles have been introduced to the Safari.
The vehicle measures 140cm long and 84cm high. It does not include any engine, but the auction information page assures would be bidders that there is space to fit an electric motor inside. During its time in operation, the car travelled 300,000km. The auction is taking place in the park’s home country of Denmark, so anyone from outside the country will need to take transportation into account.
Selling the ride car will raise money for Merlin’s Magic Wand, the charity set up by Merlin Entertainments, the company that owns the LEGOLAND theme parks. The charity helps disadvantaged children enjoy day trips out at the LEGOLAND destinations and has worked on projects including installing a play area at Kolding Hospital in Denmark.
Tickets to LEGOLAND Billund can be purchased at the attraction’s website.
