LEGO Marvel 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock might not be a very realistic set (why does Spider-Man need a motorbike when he has webs?) but it packs a lot of fun into its 77 pieces and £8.99 price tag. You get two minifigures that are detailed enough for the price, with Doc Ock in particular featuring some Venom-like details on the face and torso, as well as his signature four tentacles of course. He’s able to grab onto the buildable lamppost to hunt down Spider-Man, whose bike is decorated with spider-themed elements. All in all, it’s a pretty nifty set for its low price.

While 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack might be on the pricier side for LEGO Star Wars battle packs, it still settles in nicely on the lower end of the spectrum when looking at LEGO sets as a whole at £24.99. In its 215 pieces, you get a wealth of minifigures and characters, including four Clone Troopers, two Battle Droids, and three Super Battle Droids making their welcome return. These alone make it well worth a day-one purchase but throw in the new design for the Octuptarra tri-droid and you’ve got yourself a steal.

LEGO Art sets might not be for everyone but if you want to add some brick-built colour to your walls, there’s no better place to start than 31211 Macaw Parrots. The vibrant colours stand alone in the frameless buildable artwork, which you can display either separately or in a pair. Plus, if you’re looking for a way to spend the New Year’s Day bank holiday, the LEGO Art set comes with two pairs of instructions, so you can create the parrots alongside someone else easily.

2024 is set to be a year for LEGO Space and one of the highlights of LEGO City’s collection of space-themed sets is 60433 Modular Space Station. It includes everything a minifigure would need to explore outer space in each of its modular sections, which can be arranged in a number of formats to suit what you prefer. Notable inclusions are a satellite, space bike, shuttle, exploration science lab, repair workshop, kitchen, sleeping quarters, and a thriving biodome, all for the relatively reasonable price of £89.99 for over 1,000 pieces.

Best LEGO January 2024 set for over £100

LEGO Friends is looking to have a cracking 2024, not least due to its impressive January 1 centrepiece: 42639 Andrea’s Modern Mansion. A take on modern architecture, the colourful details and chic white and black core build are enough to distract you from the presence of minidolls, if that’s something that bothers you. Perched on a rocky outcrop decorate with flowers, the LEGO Friends build is enough to brighten up any brick-built street, with an easily accessible interior and towering palm trees for extra drama.
