Brick-built birds are abundant in the 2023 LEGO sets

There may be something in the water at the LEGO Group as brick-built birds are abundant in the first 2023 LEGO sets, especially in Creator.

While bird builds are nothing new for the LEGO Group, being a common part of the overall portfolio, 2023 is off to a notably strong start for the feathered friends.

Creator’s design team seems to have been especially infatuated with birds when designing the 2023 range with an alternate model in 31133 White Rabbit, the upcoming 31136 Exotic Parrot as well as 31143 Birdhouse with a variety of smaller birds included.

However, it’s not just the rebuildable Creator 3-in-1 models that include birds as one of the first Seasonal sets for 2023, 40639 Bird’s Nest, includes an adult and two chicks as well as a resting place for them, similar to the main model in 31143 Birdhouse.

Even action-focused themes such as Monkie Kid and LEGO Super Mario feature birds in one of their first 2023 builds with 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout and 71414 Conkdor’s Noggin Bopper. Birds aren’t uncommon in the world of LEGO but seeing so many in the first few months of 2023, or five in the first two weeks discounting 31136 Exotic Parrot, is an interesting coincidence.

Most of these builds are available now on the official online store with 31136 Exotic Parrot launching on March 1, 2023.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
