76207 Attack on New Asgard is the smaller of the two Thor: Love and Thunder builds that will release later in 2022. While the larger 76208 The Goat Boat has been officially revealed, the other was found early at the LEGO Store in Istanbul Airport.
In the model, Thor and Mighty Thor are battling a beast made up of green and black elements with large claws and vines that might represent tentacles or another monstrous feature. The story reason behind the monster’s inclusion in 76207 Attack on New Asgard is unknown, but we’ve seen a very similar creation in another recent LEGO Marvel set.
When Spider-Man: No Way Home arrived in cinemas at the end of 2021, the film’s only corresponding LEGO set – not counting one minifigure in 76195 Spider-Man’s Drone Duel – was 76185 Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop. We reviewed the models in full, including a green and black beast with claws and vines at the bottom of the creature, just like the enemy in 76207 Attack on New Asgard.
Those who have watched the movie, and spoilers for those who haven’t, will know that such a creature never appeared in the film, and may have been included in concept art that was provided to the LEGO designers during development.
Whether Thor: Love and Thunder and 76207 Attack on New Asgard will meet a similar fate with its green and black monster is not yet known, though it could be that this was a story element pushed back until the later chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ll have to wait for the movie to release on July 8, 2022, to know more.
At the very least, these two similar creatures should pair well together for a combined attack on New Asgard. While we’re not sure when 76207 Attack on New Asgard will launch, you can pick up 76185 Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop on the official online store now.
