Five LEGO Ideas projects we were disappointed to see rejected from the second 2022 review
Two of 51 projects were approved in the second 2022 LEGO Ideas review and we’ve highlighted five we’re disappointed to see going no further.
The results of the second 2022 review have been announced and while it is bringing us a build based on The Nightmare Before Christmas and a Red Telephone Box, it’s not good news for the 49 projects that have been left behind.
Looking through the other 49 submissions, here are five that we’re disappointed to see rejected in the second 2022 review.
5 – Thomas the Tank Engine
Devised by KaijuBuildz, a Thomas the Tank Engine project was pitched following the DUPLO range that came long before its submission to LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, the tracks stopped here for this model as it has not been approved.
At an affordable size, this train creation proposed alternate faces to change Thomas’ mood and would have been a nostalgic build, though perhaps the train-centric franchise is still too niche for LEGO Ideas.
4 – Bluey!
Also recreating a franchise aimed at a younger audience, Bluey! from Monkey Scout isn’t in with a chance of becoming a future LEGO Ideas set anymore.
Based on the animated series of the same name, this project suggested a full model of Bluey’s house and figures to match and managed to reach 10,000 supporters in just 72 hours.
3 – Working Log Flume – Fairground Water Coaster
The Working Log Flume by Barron von Barron proposed a different kind of ride than that which has been featured in the Fairground Collection. With a haunted house drop ride, two roller coasters, a carousel, a Ferris wheel and more, there has still been no LEGO log flume.
This LEGO Ideas project aimed to change that and rather than just using blue roller coaster track pieces, a new system was devised using wheels to add an element of unpredictability to the attraction.
2 – The Krusty Krab – Spongebob Squarepants
The Krusty Krab – Spongebob Squarepants from Lanko has also not been approved in the second 2022 LEGO Ideas review round.
While some may have been hoping for a return to LEGO Spongebob Squarepants, this larger Krusty Krab creation was not picked for a model, despite its complete interior compared to official The Krusty Krab sets.
1 – University of Brickester
Also not based on an IP but not approved in the second 2022 review is the University of Brickester by Lepralego. This build blends modern and classic architecture in a standalone model complete with a detailed interior ready to educate and inspire.
A university is something that we’ve never had officially in LEGO and unfortunately, this project wasn’t to be the first after all.
