Indiana Jones 5 deserves a truly epic LEGO video game

Could TT Games’ next big release be a LEGO Indiana Jones title tying in with the fifth film in the franchise? If not, it certainly should be.

Amongst all of the excitement at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim for upcoming products from a galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm also announced major news about another huge property. The fifth Indiana Jones movie will arrive on June 30, 2023, marking the long-awaited return of Harrison Ford’s whip-cracking archaeologist to the big screen.

With Indiana Jones 5 possibly being the last time we’ll see the 79 year-old actor taking on the role, the film’s release will most likely be accompanied by a variety of supporting merchandise. Whilst the LEGO Group has yet to announce any sets based around the film, 18 models were released based around the franchise, with the last appearing in 2009.

In addition, TT Games developed both LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventures continues. Both titles were huge hits, which would suggest the company would be wise to creator a third video game based on the upcoming fifth film, following the massive success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Of course, that might be exactly what TT Games is currently working on. A recent job posting for the company has revealed that the developer is actively looking for an experienced Senior Combat Designer to work on ‘an exciting new LEGO game based on a major IP’. It’s certainly possible that Indiana Jones 5 would fit that criteria and it would give TT Games the opportunity to not only bookshelf their previous Indy outing (to complete a trilogy of games based on the character), but also demonstrate to fans and the wider gaming industry that it can deliver a high-quality product free from glitches or controversy.

It’s too early to say whether or not we’ll get to see any new LEGO Indiana Jones sets (we’ve speculated about that very topic right here) or a third LEGO Indiana Jones video game, but it’s clear there’s certainly plenty of life left in both the character and the long-running film franchise.
