LEGO 10307 Eiffel Tower is inspired by multiple time periods

The new LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower isn’t an exact match to the modern-day version of the landmark but it’s been revealed that’s for a reason.

The base of 10307 Eiffel Tower is decorated with paths, grass, trees and lamp posts, contrasting the concrete, shops and security areas that currently sit at the bottom of the landmark in real life. During a presentation recorded by klemmbausteinlyrik, designer Rok Žgalin Kobe explained why this is the case and what else is different to the Eiffel Tower as it stands today.

“Today the Eiffel Tower is very unsightly below, everything is locked up and is taken over by security and scanning so that wouldn’t be as nice to represent so the base is made as it would be on the original exposition so nicely landscaped, planted with trees and no concrete.” shared Rok Žgalin Kobe.

An all-grey base at the bottom of an otherwise-mostly grey build wouldn’t have been the most attractive element so this decision makes a lot of sense in terms of making the design of 10307 Eiffel Tower visually appealing. However, every other part of the build closely matches what you’ll find at the landmark today.

“The rest of the tower is as we find it today because it’s being changed throughout the years, like the forms, especially, on the first platform it has changed so it’s a bit of a mish-mash time-wise but we have tried to capture the most iconic parts of it.”

10307 Eiffel Tower will be available on November 25, just in time for Black Friday on LEGO.com and in LEGO stores
