LEGO Ideas 21345 Polaroid compared to the real deal
It has been revealed that LEGO Ideas 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera recreates the camera on a level that few other sets have before.
Sean Hollister, or starfire2258 on Reddit, has shared a suite of comparison images placing 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera next to a real OneStep SX-70, and it might be the most accurate LEGO recreation ever designed.
Seeing the LEGO Ideas set next to the camera brings to light just how close the shaping, colours and important features are, within the constraints that LEGO bricks present. The placement of the Polaroid Land Camera label, photo slot and size of the stripes are the most inaccurate parts. The stripes opt for tiles and plates in a row rather than a sticker or print, making them bigger than they should be though it’s arguably worth it for the functionality and the more interesting build.
Otherwise, everything from the red button to the lens is accurate and from a distance, it can be hard to tell which image is 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera and which is the real camera.
The comparatively simple but iconic shaping at the back of the camera has been captured using existing elements too with exposed studs to remind you that one is a LEGO set and won’t be taking any pictures no matter how hard you try – by design for a new campaign.
Comparing the LEGO Ideas set with the real Polaroid camera allows you to appreciate just how accurate the project-turned-set is within the limits of LEGO. You don’t have long to wait until you can start building it either as LEGO Ideas 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera releases on January 1, 2024, for £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99. Pre-orders are open now.
