LEGO Ideas contest results reveal two upcoming GWPs

We’ve got our first look at what two upcoming LEGO gifts-with-purchase could look like, thanks to the results of the LEGO Ideas Exploring the Cosmos contest.

After a fan vote and an expert judging stage, the results of the LEGO Ideas Exploring the Cosmos contest have now been revealed. As there were two categories, there are two Grand Prize Winners (along with two Runner Ups for each category). The prize, along with copies of five space-themed sets, was to have the submitted design turned into a future official GWP, meaning the two winning designs will soon be winging their way to becoming real-life sets.

Those two Grand Prize Winners are Falkorich‘s Micro Rail Command Center for the Base category and EnchantingNoodle‘s Moon Car for the Vehicle category.

These submissions will now go into development to become future LEGO gifts-with-purchase and the winning fan designers will also receive 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery21340 Tales of the Space Age, 31152 Astronaut42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance and 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover. The four runners-up (revealed on the LEGO Ideas blog) will win 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover and 21340 Tales of the Space Age.

There’s no word on exactly when we’ll see these two GWPs or how we’ll be able to get our hands on them. Plus, it’s worth noting that the final designs could change slightly as part of the development process. Nonetheless, the image above offer a good sense of what they could look like, with Micro Rail Command Center including a monorail and plenty of classic space imagery and Moon Car bringing the fantastical idea of a flying car to life, complete with a sturdy display stand for a dynamic pose.

If you’re looking for a different LEGO Ideas contest to get involved with, there’s still time to enter the team’s ’80s-inspired challenge before April 9, with the chance of having your designs turned into a real LEGO Ideas set.
