The LEGO Jurassic World and Star Wars dioramas are just a coincidence

In April 2022, days away from each other, the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection and 76956 T. rex Breakout release, but that’s just a coincidence.

With their similar base designs and concepts, you might think that the LEGO Star Wars and Jurassic World design teams had some communication when it comes to the trio of 75329 Death Star Trench Run Diorama, 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama, 75339 Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama and 76956 T. rex Breakout.

However, that wasn’t the case as these four builds, from two different themes, launching just over a week away from each other in April 2022, are just just a coincidence as revealed by Design Manager Michael Lee Stockwell in our recent interview.

“We weren’t collaborating as such,” noted Michael. “Sometimes we hear about what’s going on in another department, and we’ll put our heads together if it makes sense. But the development of one concept wasn’t dependent on the other. This is a coincidence.”

Despite their similarities, there’s no connection between the development of the LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection and 76956 T. rex Breakout. Still, you’ll be able to get all four of the quote-based builds on April 17 for the Jurassic World model and April 26 for those from LEGO Star Wars, complete with quotes from each scene.
