LEGO MASTERS USA premieres in the UK today

The debut season of LEGO MASTERS USA gets underway in the UK today, marking the first time the exported series has legitimately been available to watch this side of the Atlantic.

If you had access to more unscrupulous means of streaming US television when the show originally aired in 2020 – and we’re not judging – you might have no need to tune into E4 tonight. But for the majority of UK-based LEGO fans, this will be a welcome first opportunity to see how FOX handles the format on the other side of the pond.

In place of UK host Melvin Odoom is the voice of LEGO Batman himself, Will Arnett, while two LEGO designers – Jamie Berard and Amy Corbett – are on judging duties. Spoiler alert: they proved a formidable enough trio that all three are set to return for the second season of LEGO MASTERS USA in June, alongside a brand new set of contestants.

You can familiarise yourself with the first series’ teams and judges ahead of time through our in-depth interviews.

Meet the judges:
Jamie Berard
Amy Corbett

Meet the contestants:
Sam and Jessica
Krystle and Amie
Mel and Jermaine
Flynn and Richard
Boone and Mark
Manny and Nestor
Travis and Corey
Tyler and Amy
Jessie and Kara
Christian and Aaron

The action kicks off at 9pm tonight on E4. Once you’ve watched the episode, head back to Brick Fanatics for our review and analysis, which should be just as relevant today as it was back in February 2020. That’s the power of syndication.

There’s no word yet on whether the second season of LEGO MASTERS USA will air simultaneously in the UK in the summer, but the first season is enough to at least fill the hole left by the third UK season, which has unfortunately never materialised.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
