LEGO MASTERS USA is about to begin. Some of the best builders in the US are competing to see who will receive the title of LEGO MASTERS as they face tough challenges that will push their building ability to the limit.

Brick Fanatics is speaking to the builders who have their sights on the ultimate LEGO prize to get to know them better. In this exclusive interview, Tyler and Amy – known as ‘the Newlyweds’ – reveal who is the biggest LEGO fan and what their other creative hobbies are.

What is your LEGO background?

Tyler: I have always been building with LEGO, since I was two years old. In my early teens I found the online LEGO community and LEGO quickly became a serious hobby. In college I began taking commissions from various companies and individuals.

Amy: Tyler was the one who really brought me into the world of LEGO. It has been a great bonding experience for us in our early days of marriage.

What are your favourite types of models to build? Where do you do your building?

Tyler: I guess I would say that my favourite thing to build is cartoon characters, characters that have goofy exaggerated expressions. I love creating some sort of silly character that really makes me laugh. I have a room in my house that is dedicated to my LEGO collection and photography studio.

Amy: I love models with personality and clever character scenes. Tyler’s unique character models make me laugh all the time.

Do you collect LEGO sets and/or bricks?

Tyler: I collect parts only, I rarely, if ever, buy LEGO sets. I order parts, as I need them, from BrickLink.

Amy: I really enjoy looking at sets, but when I am building I want to be creating my own designs.

Do you have any other creative hobbies?

Tyler: I love building things. I love woodworking and building our own furniture, I also love art – drawing and painting.

Amy: You can often find me creating fun and creative learning games for my piano students, baking yummy treats in the kitchen, or working on wood projects with Tyler.

LEGO MASTERS will premiere on Fox in the USA on Wednesday, February 5 at 9.00pm ET/10.00pm PT.
