LEGO MASTERS winner Cade appearing at charity event to help bushfire victims

With wild fires wreaking devastation in Australia, LEGO MASTERS winner Cade and a brick based business are raising money for victims at an event this weekend.

BrickResales will host an event on Saturday, January 11, to raise money for victims of the bushfires that have raged in Australia over the past few weeks and months. LEGO MASTERS winner Cade Franklin will appear at the event, the Courier Mail reports, which will take place at at Strathpine Community Centre, near Brisbane.

The company’s owner, Judy Friedman, has raised over AUD 50,000 for organisations including RizeUp Australia over the past few years.

At this Saturday’s event, a raffle will offer over AUD 1500 worth of LEGO prizes, where one of Australia’s current LEGO MASTERS title-holders will be selling tickets. Raffle tickets are also available to non-attendees for $5 per ticket by e-mailing [email protected]. Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to bushfire victims.

Police have charged at least 24 people for intentionally starting fires, with at least the same number of people having died due to the blazes as nearly 18 million acres of land having been burned. There is currently a complete ban on lighting fires as services struggle with the ongoing situation.
