LEGO 40478 Mini Disney Castle officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially pulled back the curtain on 40478 Mini Disney Castle, confirming the microscale set’s price tag and release date.

Probably one of the worst-kept LEGO secrets in recent months, the miniaturised take on 71040 The Disney Castle was first spotted on the building instructions portal, then in a legal document, and finally through LEGO Mexico’s Instagram account.

This is the first time we’ve seen hi-res images of the 567-piece model, however, and they’ve come straight from LEGO.com, where 40478 Mini Disney Castle is now listed as ‘coming soon’. More specifically, you’ll be able to order it from October 1, alongside a huge wave of other sets – including 10293 Santa’s Visit, 21329 Fender Stratocaster and the new LEGO CITY Stuntz subtheme.

Just like 71040 The Disney Castle, this microscale model is based on Magic Kingdom’s best-known icon, only with an updated colour scheme and a brand new Mickey Mouse minifigure. It’s being released as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, and will retail for £30.99 / $34.99 / €34.99.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
