LEGO Monkie Kid is getting its own set of golden weapons in 2023

Much like LEGO NINJAGO, LEGO Monkie Kid is set to get its own collection of golden weapons in 2023 featuring brand-new pieces. 

LEGO Monkie Kid’s first 2023 set – 80045 Monkey King Ultra Mech – has had its box art officially revealed, detailing the theme’s latest collectable item that will likely be scattered throughout the sets. 

The original theme’s cast will be exploring their role in this reimagining of the classic Journey to the West with traditional outfits and golden weaponry in animated form. However, at least some of this will carry over to the 2023 sets too, with five weapons featured on the box art.

Based on the silhouettes, these appear to use new pieces including one that is for Monkey King’s staff that isn’t silhouetted, since it is featured in the model. The staff now uses specialised parts for the ends on either side of a minifigure bar grip element and red extensions. 

Provided the 2023 wave is anything like LEGO NINJAGO or the 2022 range of Monkie Kid, the other four golden weapons will likely be scattered around the rest of the models. However, this has yet to be confirmed though we’ll likely know more as we get closer to January 2023.
