LEGO Overwatch sets coming in 2019

Activision Blizzard Consumer Products Group has announced that the LEGO Group has the licence to produce sets based on the hit video game Overwatch.

While Hasbro has been awarded the master toy licence for Overwatch, the LEGO Group will release sets at various prices, revealed at Licensing Expo with the news shared by the Brick Fan. Brick Fanatics understands that these will be traditional minifigure sets and around six sets will be in the launch wave. These first sets should be expected to arrive in January 2019.

Overwatch is an incredibly popular first-person shooter game that seems teams of players facing off against one another online. It is set in a futuristic sci-fi world in which Gabriel Reyes and Jack Morrison are key characters on opposing sides of the conflict.

The LEGO Group taking on a new licence such as Overwatch is a bold move after several years of the company choosing relatively familiar licences such as DC, Marvel and Disney, but skews towards a somewhat different age group to those targeted by licences such as The Powerpuff Girls and Scooby-Doo.
