LEGO Star Wars 75294 Bespin Duel coming to Target

Fans in the USA will be able to find LEGO Star Wars 75294 Bespin Duel at Target stores as well as official LEGO Stores.

LEGO Star Wars 75294 Bespin Duel, a new 18+ set that revealed recently, will be exclusive to Target along with LEGO.com, a new interview feature at StarWars.com confirmd. The set will launch on August 27.

Design Director Jens Kronvold Frederiksen explains why the lightsabers are included in this set: “this is more a model thought for display, so it is very important to get every little detail right. And, by the way, the storytelling. Therefore, Luke and Vader do not have their lightsabers. [Note: At this point in the film, Luke has lost his lightsaber, and Vader has turned his off.]

“The model reflects the moment after the lightsaber duel is over, and Vader tells Luke, ‘I am your father.’ But, since everybody wants lightsabers with their LEGO minifigures, the lightsabers ARE included in the set. On the back of the bridge there are two small clips holding a blue and a red lightsaber.”

Despite it looking like a model that would be great for play as well as display, Jens confirms is intended for the latter: “it is intended as a display model more than for play. That is also the reason that the model is built onto a display base.”

The set is rumoured to have been intended as an exclusive for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, the convention that has been cancelled as a result of the global pandemic.
