LEGO Star Wars summer set rewrites Mandalorian finale minifigure line-up

A certain character’s absence from a summer LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian set creates a substantial hole in its accuracy.

Releasing July 1, 75459 Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle recreates a sequence from The Mandalorian season two finale. In the original scene, Din Djarin and Cara Dune hijack an Imperial shuttle to capture Dr. Pershing and locate Moff Gideon. Two Imperial shuttle pilots also navigate the craft during the sequence.

In the LEGO version, however, the minifigure selection shifts. The set includes the Mandalorian, Dr. Pershing, and one shuttle pilot, but replaces Cara Dune and the second pilot with a Stormtrooper and Moff Gideon.

This swap creates a clear mismatch, as Cara Dune leads the boarding operation, yet Moff Gideon and the Stormtrooper never set foot on the shuttle during this scene. Consequently, the set ignores the specific cinematic moment to prioritise broader series antagonists. The LEGO Group’s decision to omit the second shuttle pilot carries less narrative impact, as his fellow pilot kills him shortly after the boarding begins, though the absence still undermines the set’s accuracy.

This character selection may have been impacted by Lucasfilm’s 2021 decision to sever ties with Gina Carano. The company labelled the actress’s social media posts “abhorrent and unacceptable” and removed her from future projects.

Despite this, LEGO Ideas Design Manager Sam Johnson stated in June 2021 that “the LEGO Minifigure is a representation of the character, not the actress.” The LEGO Group backed this up a month later by releasing Cara Dune in 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser. However, the character has been excluded from every set since. Her absence feels especially noticeable in sets depicting scenes where she plays a primary role, such as this one.

Cara Dune was also a playable character in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which was released in April 2022. She featured as part of the The Mandalorian Season 1 character pack, which was available on the launch day of the game.

In August 2025, Carano settled her lawsuit with Disney. While Lucasfilm expressed interest in “identifying opportunities to work together,” the industry still awaits any tangible results.

Whether any of this had an impact on Cara Dune’s absence in The Mandalorian Season 2 set is unknown, but it still comes with the exclusive Dr. Pershing minifigure. Ahead of its July 1 release date, 75459 Imperial Lambda-Class Shuttle is up for pre-order for £139.99 / $139.99 / €149.99 at LEGO.com.
