LEGO Super Mario 71411 The Mighty Bowser isn’t the only enlarged villain

LEGO Super Mario introduces an enlarged villain build later this year but 71411 The Mighty Bowser isn’t the only new set with that gimmick.

71411 The Mighty Bowser launches on October 1, 2022, as the largest LEGO Super Mario model so far, recreating the Koopa King like never before at a size that beats any other version of LEGO Bowser.

However, the 2807-piece creation shares its main gimmick with another brand new LEGO Super Mario set also releasing later this year. One of the main draws of 71411 The Mighty Bowser is the super-sized build of the character. Another appropriately-named model shares this concept as 71412 Big Bad Island, launching on August 1, 2022, also includes an array of enlarged foes.

Though not nearly as big as 71411 The Mighty Bowser, the upscaled Koopa Troopa and Goomba in 71412 Big Bad Island should sit well alongside the big Bowser, with their larger sizes allowing for a more accurate appearance in comparison to their game designs.

It seems likely that the launch of these two builds so close to one another is just a coincidence, but it does offer a fun opportunity to pair the two models as part of a larger course to provide an upscaled challenge for Mario, Luigi and Peach to overcome.

LEGO Super Mario 71411 The Mighty Bowser launches on October 1, 2022, for £229.99 / $269.99 / €269.99 and 71412 Big Bad Island releases on August 1, 2022, for £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99.
