With the holiday season nearing, the LEGO Group has unveiled a new addition to the Winter Village Collection and the first brick-built tree of its kind.
Whilst many are likely looking forward to adding 10293 Santa’s Visit to their Winter Village display, the set also marks another first for a LEGO set with a very special kind of brick-built Christmas tree.
The tree included as a side build in 10293 Santa’s Visit doesn’t just feature a classic combination of techniques for the iconic seasonal foliage, but it also includes a light brick nestled within it.
By pushing down on the top of the tree with enough pressure, the interior will be filled with light from the activated electronic brick, bursting through each of the transparent pieces for an eye-catching part of your seasonal display.
For long-time fans of the LEGO Group, this is more than likely to be a welcome surprise as the designers have produced more than a few variations of these iconic parts of Christmas celebrations over the years, sometimes using very similar structures.
The introduction of functionality into a LEGO Christmas tree marks a welcome change that might make 10293 Santa’s Visit even more tempting to those without any previous Winter Village Collection sets.
LEGO 10293 Santa’s Visit will debut for VIP members very soon on September 16 whilst any other shoppers will need to wait until October 1. The festive model will cost £79.99 in the UK, $99.99 in the US and €89.99 in Europe.
