LEGO World Builder wants your sci-fi designs

LEGO World Builder has opened up a new design project, inviting artists to contribute their own sci-fi artwork to inspire worlds beyond the stars.

Moving on from magic and illusions, the theme for the next LEGO World Builder design project has been revealed as an intergalactic attempt to fill up the platform’s collection of images to help inspire and shape potential future projects.

The team is looking for artists to create their own sci-fi banner images with any artwork that might tie into that genre, and even including other movie categories too. As usual, no text or reference to any IP is allowed and anything submitted must be entirely your own work.

You can find full details of the design project on the dedicated webpage, but the standard specifications for size and file type apply should you be familiar with the regular design projects. Unlike LEGO Ideas’s activities and contests, the only prize on offer here is a cash fund of $750 split between three chosen artists.

LEGO World Builder is the LEGO Group’s second ideas generation platform made in partnership with Tongal. Instead of allowing users to submit designs for sets, LEGO World Builder is looking for anything from themes to videos.

So far, the platform has seen a NINJAGO short release and a holiday special is currently in the works too. You’ve got until September 30 to submit your artwork for the LEGO World Builder sci-fi banner image design project.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
