Rumoured release date for LEGO Ideas 21327 Typewriter

The next LEGO Ideas set – rumoured to be 21327 Typewriter – could be launching as soon as next month, according to a new report.

Instagram user indiana_skywalker claims (via briqfoundation) that Steve Guinness’s project will become reality on June 16, 2021. That’s in line with previous rumours, which suggested a much broader summer release window for the Ideas set.

Those same reports – originally published a couple of weeks ago – indicated 21327 Typewriter will consist of 2,078 pieces, making it the sixth-largest LEGO Ideas product to date. Only 21323 Grand Piano, 21318 Tree House, 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, 21311 Voltron and this year’s 21325 Medieval Blacksmith would beat it on piece count alone.

21327 Typewriter is also expected to retail for $200, which is pretty surprising given two of those larger sets have boasted more parts for less money. Price-per-piece isn’t always a solid gold metric for value, though – the set could include Powered Up components, for example, or particularly rare or large elements.

The latter is perhaps more likely given 21327 Typewriter is also rumoured to come in sand green – which could spell good news for modular building fans – rather than Steve’s original grey. Whether that bears out in reality – or indeed, the set’s price, piece count or release date – is very much up in the air for now. We’ll bring you official confirmation as soon as we can.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
