San Diego Comic-Con will be back in some form later this year

San Diego Comic-Con has announced a return to the in-person convention later in 2021, following the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines across the globe.

If you’ve been missing gathering with fellow fans at San Diego Comic-Con, then the convention organisers have revealed their plans to return to the San Diego Convention Centre this year, in the hope that the health conditions will permit a larger public gathering.

Comic-Con Special Edition is the name of the new event and will be a smaller-scale version of the usual San Diego Comic-Con as well as the first in-person convention from the organisation since the popular event in 2019.

Comic-Con Special Edition is currently planned to be held over three days from November 26 to 28 at the San Diego Convention Center. Current plans indicate that the smaller event will be highlighting elements of the show and generate much-needed revenue for the organisers and local businesses.

The LEGO Group has previously had a presence at San Diego Comic-Con with exclusive sets made available to fans. Previously, the convention organisers announced that the main event was postponed until 2022 but an online version was planned for the summer. It seems safe to assume that those plans are remaining the same.

It’s yet to be seen whether the LEGO Group will attend either the online or physical event later this year, but we’ll keep you updated as more news is announced.
