There’s a thoughtful detail in the biggest LEGO Avatar: The Way of Water set

The release of Avatar: The Way of Water has revealed a thoughtful detail in the biggest LEGO set, but one that can be easily changed too.

Please note that this article will contain spoilers for Avatar: The Way of Water.

When 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit was first revealed, the context behind the model was not yet known and the Tulkun had only been shown in a few trailers and other promotional footage. As such, seeing that one of the front fins was cut short may have been noted as an interesting inclusion.

However, now knowing the story behind Payakan and the wounds they received in their tragic confrontation with the RDA’s forces, this stump on the front left fin has been confirmed as a thoughtful detail from the LEGO Avatar design team.

That’s not to say 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit has to only depict Payakan though as it appears that it should be easy enough to change the fin with a mirrored design from that on the right to present an unharmed Tulkun instead.

75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit is launching on January 1, 2023, along with the following four other LEGO Avatar models:

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
