Two of LEGO Monkie Kid’s biggest and newest sets combine

LEGO Monkie Kid 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout combines with the even bigger 80036 The City of Lanterns for an extra-massive model.

The instructions for many of the 2023 sets, including those from LEGO Monkie Kid, are now online. At the back of the first booklet for 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout, an additional feature for the set has been revealed.

Thanks to the modular nature of both 80036 The City of Lanterns and 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout, the two builds can be combined for a larger display. This was already noted in our review of the 2023 set, but we can show you what it looks like thanks to the online instructions.

There are no instructions necessary for combining these two sets as the layout is entirely up to you. The modular sections can be arranged and with the provided extra Technic pins in 80036 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout, the base of both builds can be attached easily too.

On the box art of the 2023 creation, a larger collection of buildings is visible in the background. This could be the City of Lanterns, suggesting that the two locations are close to each other in the animated series and explaining the reason behind this feature.

Despite one set being urban and the other being more natural in design, we were impressed with both in our reviews for 80036 The City of Lanterns and 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout and combining them may only improve the offerings.

80036 The City of Lanterns and 80044 Monkie Kid’s Team Hideout are available now for £119.99 / $159.99 / €139.99 and £89.99 / $139.99 / €99.99 respectively.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
