We might have just got our first look at the 90th anniversary LEGO set

The 90th anniversary LEGO set is rumoured to be a huge brick-built castle, and we might have just had our first look at the potential model.

To celebrate the incoming release of 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine, a new short featuring the model was released and uploaded to the official online store, depicting Doc Brown and Marty McFly journeying across time to repair their time machine.

One of the time periods that the duo travels to is one of castles and catapults, including what could be the first look at the rumoured10305 Lion King’s Castle as spotted by Tom Chadwin, which has yet to be officially confirmed by the LEGO Group.

The castle in Brick to the Future bears a strong resemblance to 6080 King’s Castle, as the front is almost completely recreated with two yellow shields featuring the same emblem. The report suggests that the 90th-anniversary build could be paying homage to that original set.

There are some modifications to the original build, such as the angled walls and it being on a hill with a stone staircase leading up to it. Elements of the colour scheme and sections from 31120 Medieval Castle are also present, meaning this might be a combination of the rumoured set and the released model.

It will likely be some time before we know for certain if this fortress is the 90th-anniversary set, or even if Castle was the theme picked from the original fan vote. While the above may only be speculation, remember to take all rumours with caution until an official announcement is made.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
