Who’s who in LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71046 Series 26 Space

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71046 Series 26 Space is now revealed in full, including the official names for all 12 minifigures.

As part of the LEGO Group’s space-focused releases for 2024, spanning multiple themes and bringing back some retro packaging details with the unified classic space banner, LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71046 Series 26 Space includes minifigures from old-school space sub-themes and modern takes inspired by the topic of space.

71046 Series 26 Space will be available to buy from May 1, 2024, for £3.49 a piece or in various-sized packs from both third-party retailers and directly from the LEGO Group. Just like with 71045 Series 25, Brick Search is working to confirm whether the app will be able to tell you who’s inside – although we do know that the matrix codes are included on the bottom of the boxes.

Some minifigures are clear as to what they are, while others are a little more random or obscure. Whether you’re a long-term Blacktron fan or don’t have a clue who’s who in 71046 Series 26 Space, here’s a guide to each minifigure.

Blacktron Mutant

Blacktron Mutant is a callback to one of the first two LEGO Space factions, Blacktron, first introduced in 1987. The theme is distinguished by black vehicles and minifigures with yellow trim, alongside various red and yellow transparent pieces. The 71046 Series 26 Space minifigure does a play on the classic Blacktron character by making it a mutant, complete with one green leg and two green arms on his right-hand side – both kitted out with LEGO weapons. The face print is also well worth a second look, with the right eye and side of the face characterised with a pink eyeball and green scale-like printing.

Ice Planet Explorer

Another classic sub-theme of LEGO Space, Ice Planet ran between 1993 and 1994 and was recognisable for its trans-neon-orange details on predominantly white sets, to fit in with the snowy landscape. Although trans-neon-orange elements have been discontinued, Ice Planet Explorer still captures the spirit of now-retired colour with a trans-orange chainsaw and orange printed visors on both the minifigure and his penguin sidekick.

Imposter

A fresh take on LEGO space-based minifigures is a minifigure that’s actually being ‘controlled’ by a tiny alien. Named Imposter, the face printing suggests that the face would be able to swing out to allow the alient to get inside (not possible with the actual minifigure, of course) and navigate around the earth without drawing too much attention. The alien itself is rendered through a green microfigure, able to be held on the minifigure’s hand. The antenna on top of Imposter’s head is the only true indication that something is ‘up’ with this character.

Robot Butler

Even in space, people might need help keeping their spaceship tidy and well-stocked. It’s therefore luck that 71046 Series 26 Space provides us with Robot Butler, equipped with a unique set of accordion-style legs and accessories to whip up a storm in the kitchen. He even comes with a green helmet to presumably function outside of spaceships too.

Alien Beetlezoid

Bringing with him a vibrant colour scheme, Alien Beetlezoid’s most unique feature is the beetle-style head, complete with pincers on the front. It also has a curved shell-like element on its back, adding to the overall beetle effect.

Retro Space Heroine

Speaking of fun colour palettes, Retro Space Heroine is easily the brightest of them all, kitted out in purple, pink, and blue, with gold accents throughout. She also has some detailed arm printing, making her a tempting character to find – as well as coming with a pink-eyed dog to boot.

Nurse Android

Even minifigures need to prepare for future generations, with a pink-suited space baby introduced in 71046 Series 26 Space – and they’re not even the main character. They’re actually the accessory for Nurse Android, kitted out mostly in white but with some interesting face printing giving her blue eyes and lips, hinting at some alien heritage.

Flying Saucer Costume Fan

‘Insert Name’ Costume Fan is usually a fairly weak addition to LEGO Collectible Minifigures series but Flying Saucer Costume Fan is an intriguing addition, with star-printed torso and legs, quite literally capped off with a green head surrounded by a flying saucer hat. It’s a quirky outfit and there could be some fun recreations to be made using the constellation minifigure elements.

M-Tron Powerlifter

Another classic space callback to M-Tron, a sub-theme that ran from 1990 and ended with Blacktron in 1993. Known for its vehicles with red hulls, grey trim, and neon-green canopies, a similar colour scheme can be found in M-Tron Powerlifter, kitted out with a heavy-looking backpack that could be some kind of flame thrower, judging from the gauge and apparatus he’s holding.

Alien Tourist

Alien Tourist is taking a less subtle approach to exploring other planets than Imposter, preferring instead to don a bright fedora and a Hawaiian shirt to fit in. He’s clearly marked out as a tourist, however, thanks to his big camera, ready to capture every moment from his travels.

Orion

Another minifigure exemplifying some creative minifigure parts, Orion is made up of several transparent elements, including the head, arms, and legs. The purple colour is dotted with silver, matching the colour of the armour and the titular constellation is marked out on the shield, making the minifigure a humanoid recreation of the famous star formation.

Spacewalking Astronaut

Spacewalking Astronaut does what it says on the tin. The minifigure has everything it needs to travel through space, including an opaque golden visor and some control panels built into the spacesuit itself.

The first figure is Blacktron 2 (or Blacktron Future Generation) rather than original Blacktron. While B1 was famous for its black and yellow colour scheme, B2 was instead famous for the trans neon green pieces that were used in its black and white sets. The Blacktron Mutant is definitely Blacktron 2.
