You can make LEGO Technic 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car remote-controlled

The first licensed LEGO Technic Formula 1 set may be out of stock, but you can prepare to make remote-controlled modifications in the meantime.

LEGO YouTuber Unbrickme has managed to get their hands on the original, unchanged version of 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car before it went out of stock on the official online store. Rather than just displaying the mode, they’ve decided to turn their attention towards a few modifications to the build that give it full remote-control capabilities

With the help of the below video, you can take 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car to the track with additional electronic elements. Functions include everything you need to control the set as if it was a full-sized race car.

As demonstrated in the video, using the remote-controlled LEGO McLaren outside will cause the tyres, and likely the underside of the model, to get dirty so it may need cleaning before you put it back on display.

Provided you can get past that obstacle, and find a copy of 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car, the build is big enough for a remote-control makeover.

Anyone who chooses to do this and has yet to purchase 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car will likely find that their version has a few design differences as the set has received a redesign recently. The McLaren creation is also the subject of an upscaled iteration on display at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend, April 2022.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
