January LEGO monthly mini build celebrates Chinese New Year
The first LEGO monthly mini build for 2019 is a Chinese New Year dragon.
For 2020, the first monthly mini build is a Chinese New Year dragon. Each month, selected LEGO Stores offer a mini build for children to go into the store and put together, which they can then take home. To celebrate the Year of the Rat, the first one is a dragon, reminiscent of the Chinese New Year festival costumes.
Instructions for the model, that uses standard parts, can be found online at the official website. It ties in with two recently released sets – 80105 Chinese New Year Temple Fair and 80104 Lion Dance. While each works separately, the two combine to make a larger and more authentic scene.
The LEGO Group are acknowledging the Chinese New Year in a big way. A new LEGO Ideas Activity was announced a few days ago and a promotion is also coming to LEGO.com that will see LEGO 40355 Year of the Rat offered for free with any order totalling £80 or more. In Taiwan, a whole raft of deals are on the way to celebrate the occasion.
