LEGO celebrates new Star Wars helmets with a dash of dark humour

The LEGO Group celebrated the release of two of its new LEGO Star Wars helmets with a funny ad – and a side of dark humour.

In honour of the 20th anniversary of The Clone Wars, two of the recent wave of Star Wars helmets feature two of the most popular characters from that era: Commander Cody and Rex. 75349 Captain Rex Helmet and 75350 Clone Commander Cody Helmet are both available for pre-order now for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99.

Ahead of their general release, the LEGO Group has released an ad showing their real-life counterparts building the brick-built helmets, at a party hosted by the Jedi, including Obi-Wan and Ahsoka. There are various nods to the franchise, such as blue milk cocktails – and a slightly darker joke that comes right at the end of the video. Watch it in full via the video below.

As the doorbell rings, Rex and Cody get up to answer it. It’s a pizza delivery to accompany the snacks at the party – but with a twist. Delivered by Sidious Pizzas, the party’s order is the infamous Order 66. Rex and Cody look at one another before looking at the Jedi around them, aka the ones that Order 66 is telling them to kill. Talk about a buzzkill.

With these new additions, the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection now spans 11 different characters from the franchise. Here’s a reminder of every one of them, including four that have now retired.
