Comparing LEGO Stars Wars 75308 R2-D2 to the real deal

The LEGO Group have uploaded a new video comparing 75308 R2-D2 to the familiar droid’s cinematic counterpart across the Star Wars franchise.

The large LEGO Star Wars 75308 R2-D2 is packed with features tying into the vast source material of the astromech, and to help showcase these functions and their authenticity, the LEGO Group have taken to Twitter to share a new video.

The vertical comparison details each of the model’s features and shows them next to their inspiration, from the fresh hidden lightsaber compartment to the familiar folding arms. Seeing the direct comparison may help shoppers sitting on the fence on buying 75308 R2-D2 determine whether or not the model should be part of their next order on the official online store.

LEGO Star Wars 75308 R2-D2 is now available for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99, making it eligible for the returning LEGO Swing Ship Ride GWP that lasts until September 12 on LEGO.com. It’s also almost enough for the upcoming comeback of the LEGO Ideas 40487 Sailboat Adventure with the price threshold for that deal remaining at £200 / $200 / €200.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
