Does the reveal of 10320 Eldorado Fortress suggest more classic LEGO remakes?

Could the newest LEGO Icons set, 10320 Eldorado Fortress, be a sign that more LEGO remake sets are coming?

Last year, 10497 Galaxy Explorer and 10315 Lion Knights’ Castle were released in honour of the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary. LEGO set remakes aren’t uncommon by any means (just look through the history of LEGO Star Wars), but updating classic sets from core LEGO themes in the 1980s was something special. There wasn’t any indication that these sets were anything beyond special one-off celebration sets.

But the reveal of 10320 Eldorado Fortress, which releases July 7, changes everything. It’s no longer the 90th anniversary of the LEGO Group, and although the LEGO Pirates remake set does have the same retro yellow packaging, it doesn’t have the 90 Years of Play branding. This is the first sign that more remakes of classic LEGO sets are on the table.

It’s not hard to believe that if Eldorado Fortress sells as well as its retro-remake counterparts, this style of set could become a regular release for the LEGO Group. The high price point and 18+ age suggestion on these sets does confirm that they’re targeted towards an older age demographic with nostalgia for old-school LEGO products. As long as adult fans continue to show interest in these sets, it’s likely they’ll keep on coming.

There are so many classic LEGO sets ripe to be remade across Space, Castle, Pirates, their many sub-themes, or any of the myriad of other themes that were on shelves in the 20th century. Which sets would you like to see be remade?
