It’s finally time – LEGO Mario Kart is racing to shelves soon

The LEGO Super Mario Mario Day reveal stream has confirmed that Mario Kart is finally coming to the theme for the fifth anniversary.

The Mario Day LEGO Super Mario reveal video has been released, confirming three new models coming this summer. The end of the video is the most notable part though as it confirms that, at long last, LEGO Mario Kart is coming.

A teaser at the end of the video features an outline of a brick-built kart as it will likely appear in the official sets and details that the range is coming in 2025. That just so happens to be the five-year anniversary of the theme.

There’s little doubt from the teaser that the kart is scaled to the current line of LEGO Super Mario figures, so don’t expect LEGO Super Mario minifigures from this teaser alone. The presence of jumper plates to hold the figures in place emphasises this.

It’s an exciting announcement for LEGO Super Mario fans as the theme has slowly been working its way through every Mario spin-off game from Luigi’s Mansion to Donkey Kong. Now though, we can all look forward to racing our LEGO Super Mario figures in 2025.

This announcement should remind you of the recent 71431 Bowser’s Muscle Car, which includes a tile that can be scanned for a generic driving feature. It seems likely that this will return for the Mario Kart range and the set should pair well with the upcoming models in any case. One power-up from the game series also has the perfect piece ready to go.

Nothing more for LEGO Super Mario has been confirmed at the time of writing and it may be some time until we learn more. In the meantime, click here to see what else was revealed for the theme one day before Mario Day.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
