First LEGO convention comes to Jacksonville

Jacksonville is getting its first ever LEGO fan convention, with BrickUniverse coming to town.

LEGO fans will be able to get creative in the Building Zone, with thousands of bricks available, as well as live builds to watch and engage with. Galleries have also been set up with life-sized and extraordinary LEGO models on display.

Professional LEGO artists Jonathan Lopes and Rocco Buttliere will also be in attendance. Lopes is bringing with him an 8-foot high model of New York City’s Woolworth Building, as well as leading a talk for attendees. Buttliere is bringing his brick-built versions of the Burg Khalifa, Westminster Palace, and more.

The convention will take place on October 2 and October 3 this year, at the Expo Center at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. Tickets cost $15 per day and can be bought in advance from the BrickUniverse website.

Organisers expect that tickets will sell out, so if you’re keen to go, make sure you move fast! BrickUniverse will also be happening in other locations across the US, so it’s worth taking a look if Jacksonville is a long commute for you.
