Five of the weirdest BTS brand collaborations to come before LEGO
LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite might be the latest brand collaboration with the band – but it’s not the first and it’s certainly not the weirdest.
Brands around the world will partner up with anyone and everyone to communicate their message further. With between 30 and 40 million people estimated to be in the BTS ARMY, it’s certainly an enormous market to tap into.
As such, the LEGO Group is not the first company to align its brand with BTS. What’s more, some of the results have been truly bizarre. Here are some of our favourites.
5 – Snickers
Snickers and BTS partnered up for a campaign in Thailand and South Korea in 2022, showcasing a special edition range of chocolate bars that had BTS lyrics printed on the wrappers. Such songs include ‘Spring Day’ and ‘Make it Right’, with the aim of the campaign to lift people’s moods in the gloom of the pandemic.
4 – Crocs
Crocs are known for their customisation options and now BTS fans can stud their shows with symbols related to the brand. BTS and Crocs worked together to release the BT21 x Crocs collection, featuring cartoon characters from BTS’s Line Friends collaboration. On top of this, there was a limited edition classic clog in the band’s signature colours. This collaboration is still ongoing at the time of writing.
3 – Unicef
It’s not all unusual products and zany collaborations, however. An integral part of BTS’ personality is their dedication to social and political issues, not being afraid of voicing their opinions. In 2017, the group launched the ‘Love Myself’ campaign, to help prevent violence against children. This campaign has raised over 4.5 billion Korean Won, the equivalent of $3.2 million, since December 2021.
2 – Telecom
Not being able to take yourself or a major brand seriously is a surefire way to make an ad that genuinely makes people smile – and this video ticks every box. Jungkook leads the way for the band in a rap battle against JESSI, singing about data plans and getting the best value on your phone contract.
1 – McDonald’s
Perhaps our favourite of them all, BTS was able to create its own meal deal with McDonald’s as brand ambassadors back in 2021. Not only did fans buy the meal in droves, but non-BTS fans sold their crew shirts to those who wanted them, becoming something of a cult possession on the secondhand market.

- I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
