Four unique LEGO Star Wars ideas we could get from Rebuild the Galaxy
The kooky animated LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy special has already all but confirmed three rumoured sets – but there’s plenty more inspiration besides.
Thanks to the first official trailer of Rebuild the Galaxy, Star Wars’ answer to the MCU’s What If…?, we’ve had three rumoured LEGO Star Wars sets all but confirmed. This was closely followed by detailed rumoured information reported via Instagram user maxbautde just a day later on 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, 75389 Dark Falcon, and 75393 X-Wing & TIE Fighter, adding more fuel to the fire that these LEGO sets could be on the way.
Of course, just seeing Jedi Bob, the Dark Falcon (complete with Darth Jar Jar), and the X-Wing/TIE Fighter in the animated show doesn’t absolutely confirm that the sets are on the way; nothing will until the LEGO Group officially unveils the sets. However, it does make them seem like an ever-increasing possibility.
With that in mind, we’ve dug into the trailer in more detail to see if there are any more clues or hints for some weird and wonderful LEGO Star Wars sets that could stem from the animated show. The entire premise of the show is that the reality of LEGO Star Wars has collapsed, leading to some truly bizarre alternate realities – so really, anything is on the table.
Petranaki arena
A major change hinted at in the trailer for Rebuild the Galaxy is a redesign of the Petranaki arena on Geonosis from a red stone and sand arena into a grassy space, framed with blue and green stone, with what looks like red-barked trees outside. It’s much more of a tranquil oasis than a battle arena – and the winged Geonosians are now kitted out with Jedi robes and lightsabers, with Anakin and Obi-Wan disappearing entirely in the rebuild.
Could Geonosis be taking the place of Coruscant as a Jedi hub? Are the Geonosians a central race of the Jedi? That all remains to be seen but a LEGO Star Wars set based on the arena could be fun – especially as we’ve not yet had any large-scale sets based on the original Patranaki arena.
The return of Phase I Clone Troopers
While we’ve had various Clone Trooper minifigures over the years, Rebuild the Galaxy could be what brings about the return of Phase I troopers, not seen since their latest iteration in 2022’s 40558 Clone Trooper Command Station. From the brief glimpse we get of them, it’s hard to say whether there are any multiversal changes between the Phase I troopers we know and love and the animated show’s version but, even if not, more variations of the Phase I soldiers would be welcome to many LEGO Star Wars fans.
In the trailer, the troopers are connected to the rumoured 75393 X-Wing & TIE Fighter. Although the latest rumours suggest that the 1,063-piece set will include minifigures of the animated show’s Sig Greebling and Yesi Scale, alongside a Rebel Pilot, an astromech droid and TIE Pilot, that doesn’t mean that Phase I troopers could appear in this or another set connected to the animated show.
Rebel AT-AT
One of the briefest glimpses but perhaps the most exciting is the AT-AT emblazoned with the Rebel logo. Although it’s only been three years since the release of the UCS 75313 AT-AT, could now be the time for a recoloured but equally detailed version of the enormous war machine?
The quick look we have makes it seem as though the Rebel versions are identical to the Imperial ones, but with orange details on the legs and the Rebellion logo on the side. Even if the LEGO Group doesn’t want to do a whole new AT-AT, perhaps even if a battle pack for the UCS build with some updated minifigures and Rebel-branded panels to switch out on the AT-AT itself could work well.
Ewok Bounty Hunter battle pack
Speaking of battle packs, the Star Wars in-joke of Ewok bounty hunters also makes an appearance in the trailer, with a veritable squad of Ewoks in ships taking to the skies. Their roots on Endor appear to have stayed with them, with greenery decorating their ships, but it’s certainly a change from the relatively primitive lives that the Ewoks live in the original Star Wars universe.
A battle pack could be a fun way to show off this new style of Ewok to their best advantage, similar to 75267 Mandalorian Battle Pack, or even a brick-built ship for the Ewoks’ new rides.
