Indiana Jones 5 pushed back to 2021

The next Indiana Jones film, currently in pre-production, has had its release pushed back to 2021.

Billy Dee Williams may be returning in a Lucasfilm production next year, but Harrison Ford’s next appearance has been delayed. Despite initially being slated for 2019, now Indiana Jones 5 will not grace the screen until July 9, 2021.

A recent story indicated the move was likely, after Jon Kasdan was brought onto the project to replace original screenwriter David Koepp, who is now comitted to the next film he is directing, You Should Have Left. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the script needs more work before shooting can go ahead. The film will be directed by Steven Spielberg and see Harrison Ford reprise his role as the whip cracking architect.

The information currently available suggests that George Lucas will not be involved in this next instalment in the franchise.
