LEGO 40687 Alien Space Diner GWP availability rumoured

The newly-revealed LEGO 40687 Alien Space Diner gift-with-purchase will apparently be available online and in-stores next week – alongside bonus free gifts with select purchases.

Unveiled by the LEGO Group yesterday, 40687 Alien Space Diner is a 239-piece gift-with-purchase that includes two Classic Space astronauts in white and orange suits. The latter is the first appearance of that colourway outside DK’s 2020 book LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History Edition, albeit minus the customary Classic Space airtanks here.

Instagram user itavixbrix now reports (via Brick Clicker) that the colourful freebie will be available from May 14 to 27 (or while stocks last) with orders above £95 in the UK and $100 in the US. You’ll apparently be able to buy absolutely anything to reach that threshold, too: there are no restrictions to particular sets or themes.

The same can’t be said for a bonus polybag bundle that’s rumoured to be available from May 14 to 21, consisting of 30663 Space Hoverbike and 30682 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance. Those two 2024 polybags will supposedly be free when spending at least £45 / $50 exclusively on LEGO City, Friends, DREAMZzz or Technic sets.

As always, these gifts-with-purchase should stack as long as your basket meets the qualifying conditions for both of them (so a total of at least £95 / $100 of LEGO, with at least £45 / $50 of that order comprised of LEGO Technic, DREAMZzz, Friends or City sets). These details have yet to be officially confirmed by the LEGO Group, but we won’t have long to wait to find out if they’re accurate.

If these GWPs do drop as expected, they’ll be timed very nicely for the one-two punch of 31212 The Milky Way Galaxy and 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System, both of which will be available to LEGO Insiders from May 15.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
