LEGO Fortnite officially launches, game mode now live

It’s the moment that eager fans have been waiting for as LEGO Fortnite goes live, offering players an all-new survival crafting adventure.

The long term partnership between the LEGO Group and Epic Games is finally bearing fruit, with today’s highly-anticipated arrival of LEGO Fortnite. First revealed during last week’s Big Bang live event, the new game mode has now been added to Fortnite, allowing players around the world to get to grips with what looks to be a unique online experience.

Pitched as a survival crafting adventure, LEGO Fortnite offers up vast, open worlds that have been built within Fortnite itself. It’s possible to select the new mode from the main Fortnite lobby directly and then leap in to find out just what the game has to offer.

In LEGO Fortnite, players can choose from some of their favourite existing Fortnite characters, including Brite Bomber, Cuddle Team Leader, Fishsticks and more, all recreated in minifigure form via LEGO Style Outfits. The game includes the ability to collect food and resources, craft items and battle enemies solo or with up to seven friends, as well as build shelters for defence and recruit the assistance of local NPC villagers.

As in Minecraft, key to the LEGO Fortnite experience will be surviving the night in one piece, with giant wolves, skeleton hordes and other brick-bult creatures on the prowl. Players can also check out deep caves in the open worlds to search for rare resources, hidden areas and more formidable enemies, such as menacing giants.

A new trailer for LEGO Fortnite has also dropped, revealing the first gameplay from the new mode, following yesterday’s glimpse of some cinematic footage. Minifigures can be seen constructing various buildings, blowing up houses, driving vehicles, farming crops, crafting numerous items and tools, battling foes and exploring a vast landscape.

The LEGO Group and Epic Games have also confirmed that this is just the beginning of the LEGO Fortnite journey, with new world-building, gameplay features and LEGO Style Outfits due to arrive starting early 2024.

LEGO Fortnite is available to play for free right now (once you’ve updated the game), with Fortnite available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms.
